Robert Jay
Instructor Robert Jay has been training with Dr. Mark Cheng since May of 2008. He first began his training with private lessons from Dr. Cheng and then went on to attend the Sunday morning classes in Santa Monica. With the help of Dr. Cheng and his strict and regimented training program, Robert was able to pass the RKC Challenge at UCLA in August of 2008.
Prior to kettlebell training, Robert used weightlifting to become stronger, but soon discovered the value of Russian Kettlebell fitness. Training with kettlebells has given Robert a new kind of powerful and uncanny strength that could not be achieved through standard weightlifting methods alone. Robert currently attends Golden West College as a part-time student and also holds two jobs; as a Longshoreman at the Port of Long Beach, and also as a correctional supervisor for the County of Orange. The short and practical routine of kettlebell training every day fits in perfectly with his busy schedule and yields excellent gains quickly.
In addition to weightlifting and kettlebell training, Robert also trains in the Zhaobao school of Chen style Tai Chi with Tim Cartmell at the Shenwu Academy. Robert finds that kettlebell training helps in all other areas of his life and work, from Chinese martial arts to tying-down lashing bars on cargo ships.
Although certified as an RKC instructor by Pavel Tsatsouline, Robert loves to learn and continues to improve his skills by attending weekly classes at the KBLA with Dr. Cheng. With Russian Kettlebell training, there seems to be an endless number of skills to master, and strength to improve upon.
Robert currently holds private training sessions at Bluff Park in Long Beach on Saturday mornings. Other arrangements for training can also be made.
