Chief Instructor
Mark Cheng
Dr. Mark Cheng is the chief instructor of KettlebellsLosAngeles. He has trained extensively as a private student of Pavel Tsatsouline weekly for years, and earned his RKC directly from Tsatsouline himself. Dr. Cheng has been enthusiastically pursuing kettlebell training as a means of rehabilitation and health ever since he experienced the successful rehabilitation of his own lower back and shoulder injuries with Russian kettlebells. He also dropped 20 pounds after becoming regularly involved with kettlebell training!
No ordinary private trainer, Dr. Cheng brings extensive medical knowledge as a specialist in Chinese medicine orthopedics to each and every one of his clients and students. Always looking to increase his knowledge and understanding of the rehabilitative and prehabilitative applications of kettlebell training and the RKC system, Dr. Cheng attended the 2007 RKC Level 2 Certification, which focused on Functional Movement Screen technologies as presented by Sr. RKC, Brett Jones, as well as many other therapeutically applied movement sciences. His teaching method reflects an eye towards detail, safety, and constant fun.
He has trained such luminaries as Guro Dan Inosanto, Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu's Rigan Machado, and assisted his mentor, Pavel Tsatsouline, with law enforcement and military training. Few, if any, instructors bring the rare mix of martial arts master, physician, and kettlebell instructor to the mix like Dr. Cheng does!

Certified Instructors
All of the KettlebellsLosAngeles instructors received their training from Dr. Mark Cheng, one of Pavel Tsatsouline’s direct students. After training diligently with Dr. Cheng, these instructors were recommended to attend the instructor certification camp in St. Paul, Minnesota. Upon successful completion of the course, they each hold Russian Kettlebell Certified (RKC) status under Pavel Tsatsouline himself.

Leonard Wu
Instructor Leonard Wu began his kettlebell training with Dr. Cheng, studying assiduously and practicing regularly, often during early morning sessions at Dr. Cheng's apartment. As an actor who sometimes finds himself in physically demanding roles on both stage and screen, kettlebell training has allowed Leonard to handle complicated scenes with intensity, athleticism, and powerful vigor, not to mention a supremely chiseled physique.
As he studied kettlebell training methods and techniques, Instructor Wu also served as a training partner for Dr. Cheng and often served as his assistant instructor. Students and clients who've worked with Leonard have had the highest praise for his keen eye for safety and his constant encouragement.
Leonard Wu officially earned his RKC certification directly from Pavel Tsatsouline in April 2007. You can contact him for a training appointment at leonard@kettlebellslosangeles.com. |

Dr. Courtney Mizuhara-Cheng
Trained by her husband, Dr. Mark Cheng, Dr. Courtney Mizuhara-Cheng got deep into kettlebell training after giving birth to the couple's son, Mark Jr., as a way of getting back in shape. Not only did the baby fat come sizzling off her bones, but she also became a hardcore kettlebell enthusiast - dropping serious pounds and gaining major strength.
As an osteopathic physician, Dr. Mizuhara-Cheng realized her husband's belief that kettlebell training is a peerless form of rehabilitative exercise training was correct. In residency at Pomona Valley Hospital, she teaches kettlebell strength, rehab, and fitness training in the Inland Empire (Covina, Pomona, San Bernardino, etc.) and occasionally on the Westside.
She officially earned her RKC designation in April 2007 directly from Pavel Tsatsouline and has trained under Pavel's supervision on several other occasions, earning her Level 2 RKC certification in June 2007. Her new website - www.DOkettlebells.com - will be launching soon! |
